NAMES = The North American Model Engineering Society
The North American Model Engineering Society's annual Expo was held April 18-19, 2009, at the Seagate Center in Toledo, Ohio, in the US. While a lot of emphasis was on model engineering with conventional machinery, in recent years there's been growing interest in CNC.
Some folks decided to assemble a booth to promote and distribute EMC.
On Saturday, the booth almost always had a visitor, and often groups
of visitors watching the live CNC demo (on an EMCO F1 mill, milling
wax or air), a video of a 5-axis milling machine from Belgium
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjPCEpZybXs&feature=related), or
looking at the 9 large format (2' x 3') mounted photos of various
machines running EMC that lined the back and one side of the booth.
Sunday there were far fewer visitors to the show, perhaps 1/3 at most
of Saturday's attendance, but still some interest, and the
opportunity to have more in-depth discussions with visitors.
A total of more than 300-400 flyers and more than 100 Live CDs (EMC
version 2.2--2.3 was released later that weekend) were distributed.
Probably more CDs could have been given out by advertising the fact
we were handing them out for free, but it's arguable if the
additional CDs would have resulted in more folks actually trying out
EMC.
