Funchal, the main city on the Madeira Island, was the nicest shore trip we had during this cruise...
Initially we decided to just get on shore, stroll through the downtown area, and maybe visit some local shops and a restaurant. It surely didn't go as planned. I wanted to take a cable-car ride up to Monte from where there is a nice view over the whole town. The ticket for the cable-car would have been 15 EURO, so that, when we were approached by a local cab driver for a tour (also for 15 EUR) we decided to take our chance.
And we surely didn't regret it. We visited a lot of nice places, but you can judge that from the following pictures.
